Hey! First off id like to welcome myself to the site. but secondly, i was crayfishing one day and happend upon 2 baby LMB about 2inches(5cm) and put them in a tank by themselves(25gal) they seem to be thriving on the guppies and red minnows i have been feeding them they are now about 4-5inches(10-12cm) and i was wondering when i should move them to my 125gal tank and how can i tell the sex? im a good fisherwoman so i now that they are LMB compared to spotted(similar markings)......any help would be greatly appreciated had them for approx 2 months...

Welcome ley, what are the current occupants of the 125? How big are they? Just to let you know the LMB will soon eat you out of house and home. The LMB will also probably outgrow your 125 by this time next year, so you may want to look into a larger tank or pond for them.

If they are going to be the only inhabitants of the 125 then I see no reason in moving them over right now. Like I said however you may want to start thinking about upgrading though.

i strongly recommend starting with pellets asap. unless you have a fairly cheap way of getting live feeders. sexing....im not sure. good luck, great fish.....fast growers!

they grow faster than weeds , and they get very very aggro towards there own kind... so i would prob just stick with one lrg mouth... in a 125 at there size would work out for about a month or so with 2 alsoa 125 is goin to look small as the fish get larger.....
