I noticed odd pink bulges coming out of the anus of several fish in one of my tanks. It's a planted 20 gallon in which I have juvenile Sajica and Rivaltus along with several apistos, a trio of Curviceps, a pair of Blue Gularis killies and a few tiny plecos.
I run DIY C02 for the plants and use 2x HOB filters rated for 20gal. Ph 6.5, Ammonia 0, nitrates <20ppm. All has been status quo in this tank for well over 6-8 mos. When I went to feed them this evening, all ate and behaved normally, they got blackworms.
After they ate I stood for a while to observe and noticed the protrusions mentioned above. They are present on all of my Sajica and all Rivaltus but no others are affected. It looks a bit like they're going to crap out their intestines. These are 1"-2" fish and the bulges come out maybe 2-3mm.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? If so, any ideas for treatments? They are acting fine but I would hate for this to go unchecked and lose fish.
<One more bit of info: I didn't notice this until after I fed them. Could it have been induced by the feeding?>
THanks.
