large plecos?

Also depends on the tankmates. Me, I love L200s, but they would do bad in an African rift hyperaggressive tank. I also think L14s are awesome and keep the colors of orange and gold when adults, but again, depends on the other fish, if you have driftwood for certain species, high flow areas, etc.

other fish would be like peacock bass, shovel nose, arowana etc..........i want a large pleco like the common one but id like some coloor to

What type of substrate do you plan to have, and how much maintenance (water changes) do you want to do? Panaques, being wood eaters, produce a lot of saw dust/crap, so you need a lot of filtration and water changes (and going bare bottom makes cleaning up after them much easier). But they are some of the most handsome plecos (the "Royals," e.g., Panaque nigrolineatus L190; Panaque armbrusteri L27).
Other options, for size and color would be L14 Goldy pleco, and L114 red-tailed sternella/cactus pleco. These are more meat eaters, so they produce less waste relative to the Royals.

I have a 300 with an L 114 and I'm adding 3 L75's. Both of these top out at about 10". Goldies (L14) get about 12" and royals can get up to 15" depending on the species.

I also keep L52, L147, L204, L264 in other tanks. It's important to note that even though my wood eating L204 produces more waste by volume, my meat eaters waste is alot more potent being it's protein based. Either way, they all crap ALOT..... Kinda hard to explain until you've seen a 5" pleco with a foot long turd attached.

royal would be a great one to own. i have a 210 gallon and it has a marble high fin, peppermint, and gold nugget pleco. don't have time or enough brain space to remember all the L numbers lol.
