Hi Guys.
So Bobo injured his mouth a month ago on a snail shell. He immediately stopped eating everything but the freeze dried krill and "pellets he loves that I usually just give as treats. Talking with my LFS that I trust they said not to worry if he is eating still, that he can go for atleast 2 weeks without any food, let his mouth heal. After a round of Kanaplex ( 3 doses ) and stress guard and time he has now stopped eating entirely. It has been almost 2 weeks. He was a big boy but he is now starting to shrink up. The lump in his mouth has not changed at all. It does not look infected, never has, I can't see a cut or opening, just this lump. He ignores everything I have tempted him with. I am now at the point that I believe there is a bit of shell in this lump and I need to act. I have read and read, watched videos, but I am afraid. I can not get MS-222 without shipping and I feel that waiting will just make him weaker making the benefits vs clove oil not worth waiting for. This is not clip clip done though. I need to maybe cut into this to see if something is inside.
1. He is 4 so 14-16 is inches, I dont have a net that big, I have seen a wet towel used, is that appropriate? Do I keep his gills uncovered?
2. So you pull them when they flip on to their backs, How long do I have before he wakes and I need to be done? 1 min? 2? I know with MS-222 you can put them back into the solution and bring them back out but with clove oil I am really nervous and don't think you can/ dont want to.
3. Is there a topical medication I should put on this wound after I either pull out the shell or cut into it and hopefully find and remove the piece?
4. Can I dip him into the fresh water bin to wash off and clove oil and then just release him back into his own tank (he has no mates) to reduce stress factors or should I revive him fully before release?
5. Should I medicate afterwards with anything besides the stress guard to promote any healing from the damage that I may cause by removal or cut?

Let me just say that every part of this makes me feel ill and I would not attempt if I did not believe that he was slowly starving to death. It is hard for me to believe that he would let himself starve over this and not try to eat anything at all but I am watching it. I just hope that I find what is bothering him, remove it, he heals and eats. I just need some guidance so I can do the best I can for him.

Any and all help is very much appreciated. IMG_E5294.JPG
