I know this a common question. What BESIDES silver dollars make good schooling fish for oscars jags etc in that size range?

Sometimes you can get away with larger bodied tetras - congos or columbians. Barbs - tiger, redline or rosy, or giant danios. These fish are obviously smaller than SDs so chances are you will lose more(all) of them than you would SDs.
I'm in the same position you are - trying to add a school to a 125 with an 8+ inch Trimac. I don't like my chances of success haha

I wouldn't really recommend bala sharks or tinfoil barbs unless you're tank is 10ft+. That may sound ridiculous to some but they are very big, active fish. Giant danios, redline barbs or filament barbs could all potentially work instead.
Yeah I don't think tinfoils or balas will do in a 6 ft tank. I tried giant danios they didn't make it w the jag. Silver dollars do work. I'm just wondering what else is out there that works. Different colors, shapes, etc. Thanks for all the suggestions.
