I know someone recently had a thread discussing severum growth rates and potential size, so I was wondering if anyone has any pics of large beefy severums they have grown to adulthood. I have one thats grown about 1.5 inches in the last 2 months but seems to be slowing down. Well, anyway, show off those severums.

They do seem to grow pretty slow, mine are about 6 months still ony 3-4 inches.Just starting to show red markings

I have a client that I do maintenance for that has a group of severums that are enormous. They are about 10 years old, about 10"+ long and a good 2"+ thick. I'm not due to go back out there for two weeks but I'll try to remember to snap some pics when I'm there.

Cool, I would appreciate that.

That would be an awesomely sweet sight.

Okay, here they are (sorry it took so long)...

These guys were in REAL poor shape about 2 months ago. They are in an enormous tank (300?) in a hospital. I was recently awarded the maintenance contract. There is another tank in the hospital just as big and they were both being run with undergravel filters. The grates had not been removed or cleaned for over 10 years. The nitrates were off the charts and these severums had HIH and anchor worms. I installed an FX5 on both tanks, removed the undergravel grates and did a series of large water changes while cleaning the gravel. Although the HIH has not cleared up all the way yet, these fish have never been happier. I should have gotten something in the shot to give some perspective. They don't look as big in the pictures as they are in real life. Believe me, these guys are HUGE. The Leporinus that is in some of the shots is about 14".

Not easy to tell, but if the Leporinus is 14", these guys are at least 10" long and 7-8" tall. I saw one about that size a few months ago, and you can't really appreciate their bulk unless you've seen one in person. They look like medium sized oscars. :D

mine are getting pretty big ..almost 8 inches..
