Large Space for small Newt, Needs friends

we have a 40gal with just a red belly newt, there used to be a turtle and a frog, but they both died, there are some small little fishes. we are trying to find something else cool and that will get along with the newt to put in there. something that stay more on land too but is ok near water. any suggestions? thank you

That is very nice looking. Why not add some more newts, or maybe a firebelly toad.

We already tried a firebelly toad, he got out of the tank and went into our closet and ended up drying up... we have thought about another newt.

I love tiger salamanders! I'd say that would be a good idea, but a tiger might be able to eat the newt...

yeah, a tger salamander would eatr the newt if larger
