For those of you who have sumps for tanks exceeding a couple hundred gallons what do you use?? I mean I cant see many rubbermaids that are a few hundred gallons. where would you fidn these? for a wet/dry im think a plastic garbage can would work good, but say you looking for a sump around 150g were would you get one of these things? especialy soemhting thta may go under a tank so isnt taller then maby 30". any ideas? id love to see pictures of setups of large sumps!! thank you!

Built mine, same as plywood tanks so I can fit them onto available spaces.

The 16 ft used landscape timbers.

.

few 2x4s some plywood and a pond liner

I know of a couple of people who have made plywood sumps using a pond liner with wheels on them so they could slide them out of narrow spaces to get better access for cleaning.

Y’ don’t want too much water when moving them and you do need a lid or the water sloshes about but it beats having to try and slide your head and arms into a 12 inch gap above the sump to perform maintenance on it.

Also means you can make a custom sized sump for whatever space you have available.

You can either use several seperate sumps or use the tank itself as the sump with an overhead filter/bakki or bio-tower filter. As long as the bio-tower is above the tanks waterlevel, you can use gravity. It doesnt even need to be in the same room as the tank.
