Doing water changes
I live in the bay area and Im wondering if any MFK members know where to get large tanks like 240+ for good prices. Because the places I have talked to are qouting me some ridiculous prices. For example I called this one place to get an idea of what they would charge for a 240 gallon acrylic tank, stand, canopy, and built in overflows and they said it would $6000. But they would discount it to $5000. If thats the case I'll just get the tank and build my own

Have you considered one that is used? You will save a ton of cash and there are some good deals out there. You could also talk to Jpatz; he got me my 250g with stand and hood for $250.

I dont care if it is used or new. as long as it holds water and want bust on me. Im just getting tired of searching for craigslist for overpriced tanks and the good deals are always gone before i even see them.

I have no problem building the stand and canopy just give me a skill saw and a leveler. But getting the tank is a pain in the ass.

have you checked with www.glasscages.com yet? they tend to have really good tanks at decent prices from what I've seen and heard about... there are a few others online as well.
if your worried about price, get the tank you want, but then take the time to build your own stand

I'm from expensive San Francisco, feels good to know some others on here are too...As for that $6000 figure, I think you should call an Exorcist on that dealer....He's charging way too much...Here in San Francisco, well back in 1991, we bought 2 300g Tru-Vu acrylic tanks for $3000($1,200each) ....We built the stand and cover out of good ole' Home Depot wood....Turns out the guy was also selling piranha from his store on Taraval and was caught and fined...He closed down and went ghost....Today, to the the best of my knowledge, the best prices for new tanks come from 6th Avenue Aquarium in Frisco....Call 415-668-7190 for a price quote anytime between 12p-10pm, Monday-Sunday...

Worst comes to worse, build yourself a plywood 240 for under $300....Check GARF.com...

O, yeah, correct me if I'm wrong here, but Glasscages only serves the East to Mid Coast, not the West, right???I have only heard of them through the internet, not by anyone around here...
