get alot...lots of food...they will pork

stock your pond with sunfish and shad/shinners...as forage...fast breeders easy to come by...throw in a few hundred every month or so till you get a breeding/ selfsustaining population...and even when you have a good population os them, it doesn't hert to throw a few hundred in every spring to mix the gene pool up...
