i accustomed a native LMB to my tank several weeks ago. so far its doing fantastic. however, i was wondering if there was any way to trick the fish into eating flakes, cichlid pellets, etc? i have been providing the fish with a pretty steady flow of feeder goldfish and would like to be able to incorporate some "normal" fish food in there as well.

Not normally successful with "normal" food unless you started feeding it as fingerling . I would stick with worms , insects , minnows(any feeder fish) and incorporate some mice or frogs from ur pet store depending on size.

IF its a fingerling you could start with live crawdads then go frozen shrimp(thawed out) and then switch to pellets (wetted down) later ......thats what I did with my Green sunfish....I supplemented their diet with live foods even once they were pellet trained.

with fish hooked on live-only....hopefully they at this point realize your the source of food. starve them a little and start dropping in live....after that for a while then do dry
