so i caught a largemouth bass, its fairly small and i put him into my native tank which houses some other native fish from around here, anyway now (a few hours later) he is not moving around very much, sitting on the gravel and it looks like he is gasping for air.... wut should i do :( i like mr bass, i don't want him to die

Yeah, I've seen that behavior a few times after catching fish. It is def stressed. Could be your water or maybe injury from the hook. Not much you can do at this point. If it makes it through the night it will probably be fine.

fail :( mr bass is dead, thats too bad, i was very excited to add him too my tank, ive been fishing for one who was smaller so i could watch him grow :( well i suppose its a pretty stressful thing, this is the first time ive had a problem with a fish ive caught and i have a lot of native fish in there.....

Bummer hope you get another one some time to add him in.

And the gasping is probably stress related

Sorry for your loss.

it is definetly a stressful event for the fish, the smaller ones 2"-4" might not handle the stress as well as one thats 4"-6". i caught one about 6" and he did just fine... i'd say try again.

what size tank did you have him in?
