Tons of people on Youtube and in the fishkeeping hobby in general don't know what they're doing most of the time. I'm in this boat too, not having any clue what to do in a given situation. But that's why I come here for help. Other idiots think it's just hilarious to make their puffers puff, or that it's cool to see how fast their aro can eat a duck or something. These people have zero respect for their fish.

To me, a fish is a pet, something fun to look at, something that needs care, and something that is dependant on how responsible I am. To them, fish are just a source of entertainment

I don't think it's a 20. Maybe a 29, but whatever it is, it's way too small.

Actually, the fact that it was only temporary makes it much worse. You should never release a captive fish, ESPECIALLY after introducing it to other fish (ESPECIALLY feeders as they are more likely to carry disease)
