I threw together some bits and pieces I had lying around the shop over the weekend, and put together an old 240gal. for my mono growouts. My "ghetto tank". :D An old 55 gal. is used for the sump, with 2- 4" thick pieces of "Poret" foam wedged in. A media bag containing 4 liters of SeaChem "pond matrix" was pre-cycled, and tossed in the bottom.I used a couple of Eheim 1262 pumps on 1" tubing for the returns. The overflows are 1 1/2". 2- 250 watt Jager heaters are in the sump. I may replace the heaters with 300 watt Jagers later, but for now it's fine. The water is still a little stained from the wood in the tank, (I put it in dry) but you can get the idea, and I'm sure it will clear after a few water changes. The fish are now afraid of me, and hide everytime I go near the tank. The move must have really scared the s**t out of them. They have only been in the tank a couple of days, and I hope they get over it soon. :irked:

I think it looks pretty good man, not ghetto.

How did you get the driftwood to "stand" upright off the bottom?

I had a temporary computer problem when loading the pics. Sorry. :) The driftwood is screwed to 1/4" hardwood and hung on the tank braces inside the lip for the top.

I like that a lot. Great way to take some driftwood and make it look like mangrove roots with your fastening method. You get so used to seeing driftwood on the bottom, it's cool to see it like this...looks more naturally appealing to me.

What a great idea! I think I'm going to steal that one and put it to use. Thanks!
