Like the title says, when setting up my 210, I made the mistake of not measuring correctly. I put it too close to the back wall and it needs to be scooted out a few inches. All of my current filters fit correctly, but I want to upgrade. The tank has been up and running for just under 2 months, no deaths, and would really like to keep it that way.

Soooooo......

What would the the largest, safest amount of water that I could take out and try to scoot the stand out from the wall a few inches. I suppose I could just buy a few large rubbermaid containers, pump the water into them, and when I'm done, pump them back into the tank. Haha, just thought of that while I was thinking of my next sentence.

you can get away with very large (75-80%) water changes but the the a nd pH need to match closely. I just got a 180g which is the same footprint as your 210 but shorter, I figured each inch of water in your tank is about 7.5 gallons and at 8.4 pounds a gallon thats 63 pounds per inch. So even if you got down to 10 inches of water left in tne tank, along with the tank weight and substrate, you'll still be over a 1000 pounds.

Good luck on moving that tank, I'd get a few rubbermaids.

just borrow a mess of garbage cans.... line them with clean HD trashbags and your are good to go.....water is heavy ....dont move the tank with more than an inch or 2 of water.....also if there is gravel it makes it worse....IME

Get the rubbermaids you dont want to risk weakening the stand moving it with alot of weight on it

i had to do a 75% on a 125 gallon recently, and as to how it affected the fish, there were no deaths and the water parameters didn't get affected too much other than temperature.

Thanks everyone, I will let everyone know how it goes within the next couple of days.

If there is an "Oh, ****" thread, you 3 know why. :)

I'm happy to say that the only parameter that changes during my water changes in the nitrates. I use the API master test.
