Who has the largest tiretrack eel on the forum? Mine is about 18" now, and growing fast. This pic is from when he was about 14-15". I got him in the spring at about 6".

WOW you got some GREAT growth out of him! i got mine in feb, at 6" now its about 12? i would guess around there, he always hides though so i never see him. great looking TT!

How agressive is yours? mine always picks on my 2 fire eels, i have to put him in a diffrent tank very soon

somone has a 32" TT on this fourm, i forget who

hows the fish fourm at repticzone. lmfao, buncha noobs there HAHA

Repticzone can be good sometimes, they need help and I try to give it.

That was a nice looking tiretrack.

I feed mine (as with all my fish) nothing but New Life Spectrum. He eats it out of the bowl. I use an UGF tube with a funnel on the top to put the food right in a reptile feeding bowl (from ExoTerra). As soon as the food comes in he is over at the bowl eating. He actually sucks it up out of the tube before I even get a chance to let it all get to the bottom of the tube. Somehow I have not gotten any good pics of him in action, mainly because he sits behind it and sticks his head in really quickly to grab a mouthful, pulls back, swallows, then grabs more.

He is in the 150 with 5 discus, 6 silver dollars, three bichirs (albino, delhezi, ornate, all 4-5"), 4 bristlenose plecos, a gold nugget, and 2 Synodontis eupterus. They all get along really well. He minds his own business in his rock pile. Sometimes a pleco or bichir is in there too, but he doesn't seem to mind. When he was in the 75 he did give some eels some trouble. And yes, the discus are fine. The silver dollars don't bother them, they are doing quite well in there.

Glad to hear, i wonder why they are agressive towards other eels. I may have to give him up when he gets huge and my 2 fire eels and tire track are in the 180. well see how that pans out. Also, congrats on getting him off of live! mine will ONLY eat earthworms, which isnt too bad

Ecology. They are aggressive toward eels because they all have the same niche. Other species in the tank are not seen as a threat to that niche and are therefore tolerated.

I never fed him live, frozen, or anything like that. He went straight to NLS. Actually, all of mine have. A couple didn't last long enough to thrive and grow (thanks to the first in the tank and settled in tiretrack), but all of my eels went to NLS without complaint. I saw every one of them eat NLS. That includes the current tiretrack, the 'spiney/tiretrack' in the 40, the peacock, and the fire. The peacock and fire never really settled in because of the tiretrack, but they did eat. I never saw the problems besides a little chasing. I don't feed live because of all the risks (parasites, disease, improper/malnutrition, and increased aggression). I am not going to starve it to death, but I avoid live whenever possible. Most will take pellets if you let them get hungry enough. I have tried all sorts of diets, and NLS exclusively has proven to be the best time and time again.

what do you think the chances of my 2 fire eels and my tire track living in a 180gal for life together? will the aggression stop once they are in a bigger tank?

Who is not the biggest? If you are talking about mine, yes, we know, we established that. I expected about what I got, someone has a nice full grown one.

Are your eels together now? How bad are they? What size tank are they in now? How big are they?

eels were together for about 2-3 weeks, i just took my tire track out last night because of the damage he was doing to one of my fire eels. The tire track would go from pvc pipe, to pvc pipe, harassing the fire's and nawing at their tails. it wasnt TOO bad, but bad enough were i had to take the tire out. All of the eels are about 10-12inches, but the tire is about 2-3 times thicker than the fire eels because i raised my TT from about 5-6", and got the fire eels 2-3 weeks ago. tank is/was a 30 gallon, waiting for them to hit about 15" or so then ill put them in the 180 with my clown knifes and loachs
