Last pics of the tigrinus

If you have the corroborating conclusion from your vet friend about the cause of death, it'd be good to have it here for posterity. If you willed. No biggie.

I've never encountered another example of fish breaking its spine. A fish can damage its brain lethally if it hits a wall hard enough - that I and others have experienced plenty.

There is a thread also with the photos of the tig with the damaged spine, right? I seem to recall.

IMHO it'd be nice to have it all in one spot to complete the story and the message for the sake of anyone taking an interest or doing their homework in the future.

Again, don't do it, if you are not inclined. I don't expect you to, needless to say.

was informed about it verbally, no photographs were taken.

whoa, he didn't mention about this, although the fish was behaving weird before it just went belly up. Used to swim around the tank lost, bumping into things, not being able to maintain balance.

In the beginning I just noticed it being present out of its cave more than often, eventually, it started being more and more active swimming listless in circles around the tank. Then came the non stop swimming in circles and bumping into the tank walls, and not maintaining balance.

Yes I did post a thread, when I first noticed the bent snout, I wasn't sure as to what it could've been.

I initially thought it must've been a parasite.

Will download the pics and add them here

I must be missing something here:

The tigrinus I kept was a lot more shy and was a much picky eater, and also too damn skittish to break its spine, I lost my previous Tig, I sent it to an ichthiologyst who did confirm the above.

...

I must assume this is the same fish photographed when its spine had been already broken: https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/is-this-tigrinus-having-a-deformity.701863/

Oh, so your "Whoa" comment referred to the second sentence in the quote, not the first.

It's a supposition of mine, I guess. I fail to imagine why else a fish that hit a wall hard would stop feeding, start swimming funny, and perish, either sooner after the hit or later. So very tentatively, I pegged it on brain damage.

Not so much a mental disability :) but a brain injury sounds better :)

True, I hadn't thought so, and yes there was a lot of weird behavior to suggest that
