alright, you guys answered everything else i needed and ive gotten my tank ALMOST completey set up.. my pump came in yesterday and now im trying to figure out how to connect it to the hose .. pretty simple question. how to go about this?

pump is a classic supreme, mag drive 9.5 .. the ouput is 3/4 threaded thing.

the hose its going into is also 3/4"

the hose can fit over the top of the opening but is justt too small to get over the treading .. so suggestions on what fitting it is i should pick up to best make the connection?

*justtt* too small..

If the fitting is smaller than the outside diameter of the hose, you could try dipping the end of the hose in boiling water for about 30 seconds, then smear the inside with olive oil, and push it on. Most hose will stretch some. Once it cools it'll shrink down and be very tight.

Worst case the hose splits, you have to cut an inch off and go buy a proper hose barb.

thanks, i might try this .. i hav alot of extra hose around anyways that i could use if something goes wrong. .. I have to run into a plumbing store today or tomorrow anyways to get the lock nuts to connect drain to the sterilite so I'm wondering what "barb" thing i would need .. what to look for without bringing the hose and pump with me to try it out. would it just be 3/4" barb that has the threading on the inside? .. stupid question but i dont wanna buy the wrong one then have to make a second trip back to town.

yes, you would need a 3/4" female threaded hose barb (meaning the threads are on the inside, so that the hose barb screws onto the pump threads).
