Well i'm a bit late but I figured i'd make it official.

You can just call me tha dude. You know that guy you know? He's the dude. I'm tha dude.

I got into this hobby quite by accident.

Graphic Design is my trade. I've done some high profile stuff. I had a friend hit me up, he needed some graphics. He also had a 9" Guyana Piranha in a 55 gallon he was looking to get rid of. He was about to move into a trailer, and didn't want to weaken the floorboards of his future home.
He explained to me about the 'black bellied piranha', and being the type of person I am, I couldn't resist. I got the 55, a stand, 2 penguin filters, a heater, lids, gravel and the fish for about $100 worth of Graphic Design work.

The first thing I did after getting the tank set up was sought out more information. I wanted this fish to have everything it could possibly need and maybe more.
Looking back, setting up the tank I did quite a few things wrong. As a result, a few months later, the piranha caught HITH.
I battled with HITH for about a month... followed directions to a T.
The piranha is still alive, however I am always fearful of his scarring..

Soon after the HITH bout... another friend came to me with a tank & more piranhas... (I told him I don't want his stinkin' redbellies... lol)
I aquired a full 75gal setup for $150.
Now, my black piranha had a new home. He could finally turn a 360 without hitting glass... and boy was he happy. It was amazing to see his behavior change.
And now, I had an empty 55 gallon... This is when I found Cichlids.

Enter MFK.

Today, I have a 45 gallon, a 20 tall, a 30 wide, and the 75.
(unfortunatley the 55 broke in the back of a 12 hour uhaul trip... it WILL be replaced.)

In the last year and a half, I went from knowing nothing of fish, to now knowing too much (if possible.. haha)
MFK is where i've aquired a lot of this knowledge. Nowadays, in my circle of friends, i'm the 'fish guy'. Damn proud of it too.
Such a calming hobby, and so enjoyable. I find myself in front of the tank for hours at a time. (my cat does too! lol)

So here's a thanks, and a cheers to you MFK... and by the way... I'm Tha Dude.
