I know the pics are crappy, it's hard to focus a DSLR in the dark - the first fish bit at 10:12pm. They aren't monsters by any means, but, they are super fun on medium tackle and there is always a chance for a REAL big one :naughty:

Nice catches

But I think it is more early to mid season for cats.

Many of the record fish are caught during winter

Thanks, I keep forgetting how big this forum is. Here in Manitoba, it is almost unheard of to catch the Chanel Cats into September, I have been fishing them pretty seriously in each of the last 6 seasons and by the middle of August, we are usually down to one and sometimes no cats per outing.

nice fish here in mn i catch alot in sept. and oct. although that was before i found duck hunting now i rarely fish in the fall...

thos are some big channels no matter where you are from

It seems like they leave the river and head for the big lake (lake Winnipeg) in the fall. The weather has played havoc on the fishing this year. The cats only REALLY started running at the end of July, usually the beginnig of June starts to produce good numbers of big ones!

I forgot to mention, all five cats we got came in 40 minutes, we called it a day before 11 last night :)

Thanks for the coomments by the way.

I agree I guess we all think every place is like were we live at.

Here in the hottest summer months its hard to catch bigger cats at all in the rivers. But sometimes at night you can get lucky.
