This is the official NEMBA restricted species list of fish that may not be imported or kept in South Africa

All ornamental freshwater shrimp have also been removed from the blacklist. Happy fishkeeping :)

I am glad the stingrays and datnoids are off the blacklist and we finally managed to bring in 3 BD pups in December to add to our collection
I saw on TASA :)

I wish I could house rays :(

Well the biggest tank I have now is 250 litre, and being 15 doesn't help. One day...

oh yes it helps.... you have many years ahead to make your dream come true!!

My son was your age when he started nagging me for rays, there was no way I was letting myself into this.....
Two years ago, he was then 33, he got his first motoro and the hybrid which im sure you saw on TASA and.... i fell in love with them....
Two years later we now brought in the BD's so.... never give up your dreams
You have already achieved a lot !

Wait don' t peacock bass need warmer waters?
They do yes. I wasn't actually aware that they're blacklisted... People import them still.

We do have tropical and warmwater regions in South Africa.
