is lava rock good bio media? how does it compare to most bio media sold at our stores? and would it work best in a wet dry set up or can it be fully submerged like other bio media.

If you live by a stone yard, check out lace rock, I think its a form lava rock and it looks REALLY GOOD. I actually use it in my saltwater tanks. I like the look of lace rock better then most of my fiji rock. Lace rock has really good shelf pieces and is really porus.
I used lava rock for my 180 gal. I never had a problem with gunk clogging it up. before I threw it out, it looked like I had just put it in. Only downside is its weight.
