lazy Red Devil

Hello all,
So I have a red devil in a 50-55 gallon tank . When i first brought him home a couple months ago he was acting like a red devil should, aggressive and active. Over time he seems to have gotten lazier and lathargic. He always sits in a corner and never does anything. I've even tempted him with live food and he just lets them live and hang out. Water temp and parameters are all good. Any ideas why he might be doing this and how I could fix it?

Idk the peramiters, I had my lfs test it for me as I have yet to invest in one. He has no tankmates.

yesterday I did about a 20% waterchange

Do you use water conditioner? Are you on a well?

Not on a well, and I do use conditioner. (Api tap water conditioner).

I would get a test kit asap. I've heard petstores tell people small amounts of ammonia are "fine". Have a kit on hand to test the moment something looks off.

Alright, I'll look into getting one. I've heard good things about the API freshwater test kit. Any other ones you guys would recommend?
