so i put a log in my tank and it been in my tank for the last few months, seems tho after a few days of doing 80-90% water change my water has a yellowly colour to it just like tea... i would think this log should be done leaching tannins by now shouldnt it ? also i have ALOT of carbon in my filter to help filter out any discolouration .... but seems that it isnt helping what else can i do and how long should this be leaching tannins... maybe there a problem else where... ?

tank is 72x19x24 and log is about 24-32" long 19" wide 16" high or so ....prolly about 4-5" diametre as well..

You'd be surprised how long a piece of wood can leach tannins...

When was the last time the carbon was replaced?

replaced it maybe few weeks ago or so ..... im pretty sure i have alot more i the filter then is called for my size of tank too lol ... damn carbon is expensive tho

depends on type of wood, some species barely leach at all, other species will leach for a long long time. I think mine just finished leaching, after about 4 months

after about 3 months my water is still tea color.

I have the same, mine will leach for a long time but it's a S. American tank so it don't bother me as much, the fish like it.

Yeah, probably still just tanins. Can take a long time. In many cases it's good for the fish though, as was said just above.
