The keepers at petsmart told me to feed my African Spotted Leaf Fish a pinch of tropical fish flakes evry day, while feeding a small portion of frozen bloodworms 2 times a week, yet as i was reading books on tropical fish, it sais to feed em live brine shrimp, what do you think i should do they eat some of the bloodworms (most of it sinks beneath the rocks) the same with the flakes, so it could be whats making my tank cloudy, to tell you the truth! i think live brine shrimp would be cleaner, and it would start giving the leaf fisha chalange, so when they are big enough they can hunt the big game guppys. So yea tell me what you think, so i can start taking action

They are predators and would prefer a combination of frozen and freeze-dried foods.. Flakes don't have much substance, and a majority if them will probably fall to the bottom of the tank, possibly causing an ammonia spike and bacterial bloom. ;) ;) ;)

Try freeze-dried krill, freeze-dried bloodworms, frozen bloodworms, frozen mysis shrimp, and maybe eventually frozen beefheart and krill. Be careful not to overfeed. Stay away from small foods like brine shrimp and tubifex worms because they will make a mess of the tank and could cause an ammonia spike. ;) ;)

Alright i like that plan better, the lady at petsmart also said that i could use freeze dried bloodworms but ther not as nutritios at frozen bloodworms, but yea most of the flakes just sink to the bottom!

some won't even eat flakes but fedd them some frozen foods but they like bigger foods try
market shrimp, fish chunks, krill, squid

I thought leaf fish African and SA were almost impossible to get off of live . My guess is its the leopard ctenopoma if its being sold at petsmart, and not a true leaf fish. Still a cool fish though. They will eat almost anything you throw in the tank.

The fish sold at petsmart are always Ctenopomas. I'm really doubting it's an actual leaf fish.

Either way, it should be fed meaty foods since it's a predator. Flakes aren't a very good food for any fish, much less a carnivore IMO, and they're always messy and end up on the bottom.

The fish i got is called an African Spotted Leaf Fish, probably not genuine, but still a leaf fish, ill post some pics tomorrow with my 10 megapix camera. I plan to replace the flakes with freeze dried bloodworms, does this sound ok?

my leopard ctenopoma (100% sure thats what u have) i have eating flakes, pellets and he gets shrimp, cut up worms and frozen foods 1 or two times a week. these guys don't grow that fast, but when they start getting larger i'll probably give him a feeder fish or two as a treat every couple weeks.
