i havea leak in my 40g and i drained the water past the leak and out some silicone over it but the water is too low so my fiters arent workin will i hurt the fish to be in there with no filtration? i have an air stone still working in there so they are still getting air in the water help please

Most of the bacteria in the filter will be dead by the time the silicone cures. Keep the filter media wet and aerated. Your fish should be ok as long as the tank is not over stocked and the water quality was good before you drained it. Keep an eye on the ammonia and plan on changing the water frequently. Allow at the very least 24 hours for the silicone to cure, but you should really give it 48 hours to be on the safe side.

I agree just get a new tank I've tried to seal a couple in a pinch and it never worked that great. plus if you buy a new one and swithch it out u can try and reseal your old one and let it sit for a long time with water in it and no fish so no loss... Just make sure when you set up your new one or seal your old one that it is 100% level. Good luck!

over here im not sure avout just the tank but tank with light is over $200 (acrylic)

when I had a leaky 20 gallon I didn't have any luck patching it, so then I scraped out all the silicon from the inside and resiliconed the whole thing and it's held up for about 10 years now.
