So I've bought a new tank and I don't normally leak check them but I am going to this time .

It's about 38 gallons 48x12x15.

I still stay with my parents and unfortunately we don't have a garage . So I would have to leave my tank outside .

It's winter in Scotland , we are still above freezing but we have been getting some frost .

Is it possible to do a leak check outside in this temp?

It's possible I suppose, but I wouldn't recommend it. Too much contraction outside, then a sudden expansion inside.
Maybe check for leaks inside your house by gradually filling the tank to capacity over a couple of days.
