Leaking Eheim Pro II 2026

As the title suggests my 3 year old Eheim 2026 is leaking. I noticed the leak the other day during a brief power outage so I just closed the intake. Today I decided I should clean the O-ring so it wouldn't leak anymore. Well I cleaned it and greased it up with silicon grease (like I do for underwater cameras and flashlights) and now it really leaks. I don't think it is seating right but after fiddling with it for a while I've gotten pretty frustrated! Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

If it is leaking between the canister body and the pump head (where the latches are), it may be time to replace the pump head seal. They tend to become compressed and not seal snugly anymore.

Typical for that model, have to buy the new Oring/gasket. Poor design if ya ask me.

Take the o-ring out and clean in hot water,HOT, this will soften the o-ring and expand it somewhat. Make sure the groove is clean of all debris. Put the o-ring back in the groove and luricate with silicon but dont force it down all the way, let the canister body do that. If it seals okay, I would still get another o-ring.
