Hi i recently bought a used 135g. The previous owner drilled the tank and installed bulkhead and cap. i brought the tank home and did my water test. This morning i went to check and found a leaking spot from the plug.

what are my options right now?
should i go buy a new plug or the existing plug is still usable?
what are the steps to fixing this leak?
thank you! anything would be helpful as i am a beginner to bulkheads and fittings.

I agree with the above.

I would drain it down, let it dry and throw some PVC cement around the seam to see if it will seal up. Better still, seal it from the inside.

EDIT: You could also get a small piece of pip and a cap and plug it from the inside as well. Seal with PVC cement and you should be good.

where can i buy the bulk head and pvc?
when i do plug the pvc to plug it should i apply anything on the pvc?

i will go to check that out thank you.

is the pvc cement safe with fish since it's applied on the inside?

i drain the tank couple inches below the hole. i unscrew the plug, turns out its not glued to the bulkhead. i wrap some plumber's tape and screw it back in, filled up the water lvl. Now im waiting to see if that sovles my problem. i dont want to permanently seal or glue the plug to the bulk head.

that should resolve your leaving with the teflon tape... but i would use pvc to glue it just in case if it ever get loose.

Yeah, I would think you should be good.
