I have a leaking 84 gallon tank. If one is to have a leaking tank this is good timing as that I am moving the inhabitants to a new home and changing it.

The question I am trying get to here is should I reseal the whole tank or just do the seam that is leaking?

Hello; I posted about this question earlier today, perhaps you can do a search for that and the many other posts on the subject. I tend to do an entire reseal any more as over the years the small section patches do not seem to hold up for very long.

Whole tank. The new silicone won't bond to the old silicone so you leave weak spots for a future leak.

Not true, just needs to be very clean. With that said I would still go with resealing the entire tank, not just a seam.
