I got a brand new Rena xp3 filter I set it up but it's leaking from where the power cord comes out. I read the trouble shooting and figured i cut the tubing to short so I replaced it but it's still leaking. I made sure the quick disconnect is settled and not being pulled in any direction, it's completely flush...still leaking. I emptied the canister of 1/2 of the water and put the top back on to get a perfect seal bacause I read if you put the top on when it's full it won't seal properly...still leaks.

What can I do to stop it from leaking?

I'm really irritated right with filters right now :(

water coming from the cord area means that the seal where the quick disconnect goes on the filter is not sealing properly, allowing water to get into the lid area. you most likely need new o-rings for the inlet pipes (the two hard pipes on the bottom part of the quick disconnect assembly).

i had this problem as well, and although i never bought new o-rings, i solved it by putting an xp2 motor/lid and quick disconnect/hose assembly on an xp4 canister body. works just fine over a year later!

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes the lid gets completely full of water that's not supposed to happen right? Do you think putting Vaseline on the o rings might help it seal better?

Yes that will narrow it down to the prob, I'm not convinced its not the motor housing itself, just take ur time and lool thru the whole system but yes smear on some lube!

Ok I put vaseline on the rings and started it back up and it's been running for about 1hr with no leaking

Congrats! This is only a short term solution, order some new orings, very cheap online! I loved my xp4 it was a bio filter machine, 1st tray 1 20micron sponge 1 30 micron sponge and the rest all ceramic bio and chem stars! Did wonders but recently upgraded to fx5.

Order them today and the lube should hold for a week or two

I bought new o rings and it started leaking again. I took off all the rubber seals lubed em up put them back on and it was running for about 1 hr and started leaking from the sides. I'm very frustrated right now. I'm gonna call the Company tommorrow to get a replacement or something.

If its brand new, return/exchange it.
