Ive seen all kinds of posts stating hand tight and it wont leak all the way to cut a wrench out of plywood to use.
I have a brand new tank with a brand new bulkhead and i installed it 3times as tight as i could get it by hand, no go. Still a dripping mess, It needed more compression as the bulkhead had a tiny indentation of its surface from injection molding. So I intended to go buy a strap wrench since i didnt have one. Well i live in a small town so the only thing open was walmart, and its not even a supercenter, so i went to the tool section. Nope. Nothing.
Then I hit the oil filter section, thats where I came across this little beauty.
$2.97 in store only. Its flat and low profile and works perfectly to tighten beyond just hand tight.
This is a Price you cannot beat. I now have a leak free bulkhead after filling and letting it sit overnight, and it does very little marring of the plastic of the bulkhead. Of course you can also use it to change your oil if you wanted. Your mileage may vary and obviously dont overtighten to the point of cracking the glass and such.
