I recently came across a magnum 350 that i am trying to set up for my 90gal but for some reason the seal around the top lets water out. I tried putting a little layer of aquarium silicon around the top to work as an o-rig type of deal but that didn' t work either.
anyone had this problem or have and idea of what i could do to fix it?

you might need a new o-ring

Part 6:

Go a head and get your a rubber gasket kit as well (Part 7).

Shipping is somewhat high but you will have the parts in a few days, if that.

Also, if it's old it will need some patience when you first turn it on to get the air out of the tubes. I let the pump itself push out the air (versus turning it on 10 seconds then off entirely - it's just too much pressure - for my tank/setup at least). I deem this the slow seal method. lol

For example, I will turn mine on, then off (letting some air out), then on, then off, etc until the water in the cannister is near the top, then I will just let it run until it seals itself (takes a few hours/sometimes overnight). Of course my 350 is 15+ years old...hehe

This has been a proven strategy for me. Once it's sealed its sealed though - will not leak.
:D

I found that if the clips that hold the lid on start stretching out that the lid may leak. I just bent them back down and no more leaking. As far as pulling in air, i just turn it on, adjust my outlet ball valve closed just a hair, wait a couple days, and open it all the way. doesnt get any easier.

Foster and Smith has every spare part you need. Very cheap and easy to replace. Worth having a spare of the top O-ring anyway.
