I have a large piece of wood 26x15x8 is it safe to stand this up in a tank should i put large rocks around to make it secure. Is it a problem to lean against the back glass, or cos its a heavy piece is this too much of a risk.

I wouldn't attempt letting it lean on the glass. You can use the rocks to secure it in its place.

been playing around with some new branches outside the tank for now. Manzani wood whatever that is, looks great though very twiggy. leaning towards leaving the big piece lying down as it has been for a year.

Hope to get the tank redone in Jan but this wood is so light its going to take some soaking though i may silicone it to rocks to hold it down for the first month or so.

Will put up pics when im actually happy with this tank. Thinking a large shoal of cardinals and adding to my harlequin shoal, which at this time are attempting to breed in the vicinity of rainbows and clown barbs. Looks like i ended up with 9 males and 3 females!!!

When i do the refit i wasnt going to take out all water as im keeping some plants and fish but can i add areas of flourite to the substrate when theres water in the tank? What to have a few specimen swords etc but not too planted simple and open space for shoaling
