well today i was doing a water change and normally my aro just stays to the side that im not working in. well today when i was filing it back up he was swimming around. i had the first part of the glass lid up because i was trying to get some of the white hase off the surface of the water. i turned around to get another paper towel and BAM!!!! he was on the floor!! so i quickly grabbed a shirt that was on the floor and picked him up in put him back in the tank. but after like 5min all this stuff stated to come off him and flotting around. what is that stuff? and will he be ok? he was only out for maybe 15 seconds or so.

what is this stuff u talking about, can u be more detail?
how big is ur aro and how tall he jumped out from?

he should be fine. One of my aros jumped out last fourth of july and was on my tile for over 5 minutes. I put him back in the tank and at first he was head down tail up, but 15 minutes later he was back to normal.

it was kinda stringy looking. kinda like he was lossing his slimw coat. hes about 16" long and jumped about 5 feet onto carpet

urs will be fine, no worry
mine jumped out like from over 4 feet tall to my tile floor when he was about 6-7 inch, put it back to the water and fine, scratched some part of his body, 2-3 days later no more healed completely,

hey there mate.. aros when confined to close quarters tend to be skittish.. but it really depends.. i have 4 and they have all mellowed down.. i've had aros for around 2 yrs now.. it takes time.. but end of the day there is always a chance they could leap. the stuff that you said is prob the slime coat. your aro should be fine in no time. jus give the aro the space and time to get back to shape. jus remember no sudden movements. is there not a way to completely take the lid off and clean.. i do that always.. could work otherwise for you.. all the best..

Yeah I can take it all the way off. But that would just give him a bigger hole to jump out of. I'm glad he will be fine. I've had him since he was about 6" long and about 2 years. I would hate to lose him now

This happen to me last week I was moving sum stuff I'n the yank turned around and heard something flapping around turned around and my red ari was onnthe floor 4 foot drop at least I chased him around the room and every time I grabbed his he slipped outa my hand finally I got him and threw him back I'n same thing looked lik stuff was commin off. It's his slime coat that got Pulled off him I'n the flapping an grabbing I did a wc and add a lil bit if meleflex to help him get the coat back quick. No worries if he eats 2 morrow he's fine.

the last time mine jumped out he was 18 inch or so was out for maybe 5 mins... slime coat came off and what not... took him a week to start eating again... just let him relax and heal... and just wondering what kind? you said it was 6 inch and 2 years later it's 16 inch? that is really slow for almost all kinds... what size tank is he in?

A silver aro. This April will be 2 year's. I had him in 55g until about 2 months ago. The stupid girlfriend said I couldn't get a bigger tank. I knew I needed a bigger tank and I was fighting her for about 6 month's about it. Needless to say he's in a 120g now and I'm single again lol
