After battling high Nitrites for a week and a half. I have found out something the hard way. Malachite green will kill your beneficial bacteria. Back to daily water changes till they come back down again. On two tanks that where established.

gotta use rid ich dude it has the least affect on good bac....
idk if u keep plants but um i suggest u get some aqua safe and some plants real quick to jump start ur bio

also ive had ich imn my tank for the past 5 days now...(real stubborn case)
but i got A 75 gal with a peguin 330 and a ac300 with all carbon removed..
i do 25 to 35 % water changes everday b4 i add the meds an ive managed to keep nittrites and ammonias below.1ppm ......ive lost 3 neons but everybody else seems to be doing great andi have angels and there sensitive tehy dont have a singal speck but my phantoms are hurting not so much my big male hphantom but all the other ones

it should b ..rid ich affects tiny fish like tetras ...i kno bigger fish r fine when treated but ive never kept rays so i wouldnt go on my advice id google it first..but in my knowledge i think ur ray would b just fine.....they have more then one gill right??
cuz malcalite green messes with the fishes gills so having 2 or 3 should b better then having one compaqred to a fish..its like an alcohloiv having three lives comapred to someone with one..the dude wit 3 is gunna b better off

But is it safe for a Motoro?

Are you battling ich? I can stop by tomorrow if you like and give you a hand. I would not add any meds with a ray unless you know 1) ecactly what your treating/dealing with 2) if it is a ray safe med or not.

Here is what I think happen. I added the ray and had the old substrate. I changed that out and added sand, then within a week added 6 santana's and arowana. I had a mini cycle and that triggered the death of one satana, I ended up getting a product that was ray safe, Buddy owns a LFS so I figured he knew what he was doing. Sells me a Product that would take out my BB which compounded the problem.

Now I need to get the BB colony back to par to support the waste of a ray and 15" arawana. Two satana are in the medical tank that needs recycled.

I feel like cussing! But I won't.

I can't say I disagree. Be careful (even if you know them) of most LFS employee's or even in some cases owners. They are quick to make recomendations (and a buck) but rarely know about your personal details.
