Hey,
So I know very little about salt water/reef setups, and my boss recommended a book for me, which was very helpful. I can't afford to set up my own marine tank, but at least now I know something about them.

Anyway, there's a few things overall that I personally wish I knew more about, both as an academic interest [in the sense that I want to go above and beyond what is necessarily useful in the hobby, or for giving advice].

So, do you guys have any suggestions for books on the following topics?

1. Freshwater diseases [even a very technical book that requires advanced understanding of biology, chemistry, etc].
2. Since the majority of my fish knowledge is about cichlids, a book or two describing the general characteristics/behaviors/care requirements of other fish - cyprinids, characins, etc. Again, those 'animal planet' type guide books do not suit me - something more technical is preferable.
3. General books detailing the biology, chemistry, physiology, and biophysics of aquatic life.
4. More specialized texts of the same.

I think this is a good start. Like I said, I prefer technical books with advanced explications of these topics, but something more general is okay too. I have a relatively advanced understanding of many of the sciences, I studied biochemistry, biology, and physiology in very great detail for several years, and so I just don't want books that a child should be reading - not enough information and probably nothing helpful

Thank you everyone.
