Just wondering what everyone would say is the least aggressive of the larger freshwater fish. Lets say, those that get 1 foot plus. I know almost all fish will eat anything that fits in its mouth... but what I'm asking for are fish that won't bug anything that won't fit in their mouth and can be kept with fish considerably smaller. As a common example, the Niger Catfish (Oxydoras niger).

For fun, I'm going to add one to my list that i have personal experience with. I shall add the Mad Barb (Leptobarbus rubripinna). I have several, and they don't bother any fish, even the ones they are 6 times the size of.

barbs, kois, don't usually eat other fish, but they do swallow every thing!

i am sort of confused by this

Alright, lets use the niger catfish example.

Can obtain a size of 3 feet
Very peaceful
Chances are, if you were to keep a 3 foot niger catfish in a tank full of small community fish that are large enough they wont fit into the Niger's mouth, the catfish will leave them alone and not bother them.

Where as, if you kept a 6" flowerhorn in that tank full of small community fish, that community wouldn't last long.

what he means is that all monsterfish will eat something that fits in its mouth, lets use a neon tetra as an example, but he want's fish that won't touch or harass fish that are too big to fit in its mouth.

LOL.... This is going to sound lame but... Since i cant have a 220 for a silver arowana, My little peacock goby works for me it sorta reminds me of one when he swims.

Two foot clown knife was so peaceful that it allowed itself to be annihilated by Oscars less than half of it's size, where it could have easily beat any fish in the tank.

Red Bay Snook also comes to mind. (Immense mouth on this fish though with the largest swallow capacity among cichlids). This fish will NOT try to swallow any other fish under two feet long!;)
