what sp. tends to be the least skittish. had some pygocentrus natteri a while back, but they were extremely skittish. preferably nothing in the serrasalmus genus.

It's honestly going to depend on the fish, shoal size, tank size and how much cover you're willing to give them. My pygo's dart away when i approach the tank but before I walk away and close the lid they're already eating the food that i'm dropping in unless it's surface floating food. Way too often you see videos of bare tanks "because it's easier to clean"

Everybody's experience is going to be different. Some people get lucky with finger chasers, most don't.

Howdy,

I heard that P. piraya are the least skittish pygos, and my group of 5 is living up to that - they do not dart away when I walk past the tank.

have you got an update of that tank for us harley? pics?

all piranhas need to be skittish, because in the amazon if you are smaller than 5' you have to be...

really depends on the fish, my piraya darts around, it is actually more skittish than my caribes.
the only non-skittish piranha is a dead one, I mean it won't move at all, must be not skittish at all. lol j/k

if you dont want to get serras then a large group of pygos will be a lot less skittish than a small group.. by large and small im talking number wise. Get as many as you can with the tank you have and what you can afford.

I had 20 baby natts at one point and i could tap the window pretty loudly and theyd be eating in front of me.... pretty cool
