Hi everyone,

I will be going for vacation for 1 week sometime in the coming month. Wondering what I should do for best results with the fish. I have 3 bichirs ranging from 3 inches to 6 inches and a 6 inch fire eel. They are all feeding on frozen foods and are not accepting pellets so its not gonna be possible to use an automatic filter. My biggest concern is the fire eel and small bichir. Thinking of power feeding them the week before with meaty foods (and tons of water changes) and fasting them for the week or buying feeder guppies/minnows/ghost shrimp now, quarantining them for a couple weeks, and then adding them to the aquarium. I am slightly against this though since I don't want to risk introducing parasites and unwanted diseases into my aquariums.

Let me know what you all think. Would these fish be okay for the week or should I buy live feeders to play it safe.

Thanks,
Ray

IMO they will be fine for 7 days.

If in doubt, have a friend come over and feed once.

Vacation feeders or automatic feeders while you are gone is the last thing you should do. Tempting fate and risking a big problem.

There's definitely a risk of 6" bichir eating 3" bichir or even 6" eel if starved for a week. Just something to think about.
