I've read that when breeding Jack Dempseys you must leave the fry in for a while or the male will attack the femsle for not being a good mother and "losing his babies", so to speak.

Anyone k ow how long? Took my fry out at 2 months. Parents were ok for a week. When she laid more eggs, they all died and the male wanted that girl deadddd! Now she's finally to show her face to him again (1 week+ later) but she's still flush and distant.

He's near 8 inches, she's 4 inches. Used to be a VERY relaxed. They dont do the whole lip lock or anything. He was her gentle giant, and now she has head wounds from an attempted being eaten whole lol.

Any input? She has hiding spots she uses now so not worried about that.

She has hiding spots now.

I'm wondering how long other people leave the fry in for, and if anyone has seen this before.

I currently have my fry with their parents. The fry are about one inch at the largest and they seem to be doing fine. The parents on the other hand are getting a bit rough with one another so I'm probably gonna move the fry soon. My parents use to fight all of the time and the femal would hide at the top corner of the tank. The best solution I found was outing in a clear divided for 2-4 weeks, this got the female recovered and actually helped their relation with one another- lip locking and body rubbing through the divider
