Ok, I just read something today that said Im supposed to let the water sit out for about a day (that i will use in my WC) so that the chlorine can evaporate! What??? I didnt know this! I've been doing water changed the same day. Does everyone let their water sit over a day?? I leave it for a while but not THAT long. :irked:

if you use a dechlor like prime you dont have to and if your water has chloramine it wont evaporate over night anyways

Chlorine does evaporate if water is left to sit out, but chloramines do not; therefore, it is best to use Prime or some other dechlorinator that removes both. The other benefit to allowing water to sit out is to allow it to reach room temperature. However, we have no way to store enough water to do our water changes, so we run a hose from the sink and match the tank's temp that way. It works just fine.

i always use prime. its cheap enough here so its probably even cheaper in the US. what the other 2 have said about chlorine and chloramine is good info.
