Here's the link... http://www.ledwholesalers.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&produc:(tId=684

I have seen a few tanks on the net lit up bu these and im pretty serious about ordering some, I just want to know if other ppl have used them, if you liked them, how the light went with the colors of the fish in the tank ect. If anyone has opinion I would like to hear it thanks

Check any of my 500g pics, I use 4x10w and it it more than sufficient for just fish

And a while ago I had a thread with the different color wire and which they should plug into because they aren't all US color code

my lfs has them on their display tank and they lookk really good, if you have the cash i say go for them but at the moment i am sticking with my t5 ho bulbs !

im just thinking that they are just about the same cost as most other full lighting setups... and they will be way cheaper to run. how many would you suggest i would need for a 8ft tank? (i will be putting them on my 500gal 8x4Tx30inch tank) im planning on keeping my t8 in the background with a bit of a "blueish" tint bulb to help display the fish color as well too.

also been looking at these bulbs and putting them in a canister light housing.. what would be best do you think?

the par 38 would be a little cheaper and they display a 140 degree angle so it would be less of a spotlight effect

i checked the build, nice tank btw! could you possibly post a pic of your tank lighting? on page 11 of your build i can kinda see the lights but its hard to tell and i think it looks like you only have 2 lights on it in that pic? they seem to cover the tank very well and dont have as much of a focused spotlight as i thought they would

I experimented with the floodlights but I seemed to have a lot of trouble with getting a consistent colour temperature. Many that should have been white were very yellow and I eventually gave up. The floodlights do have price and lumens on their side but colour temp was a problem for me as was the colour of the actual unit as I could only get grey, I know easy to paint but it was one thing extra I didn't want to have to do and it would have destroyed the warranty as well.

Another possibility is to build a light, like an over tank luminaire and use LED bulbs.
I am having more luck with colour temp consistency using LED bulbs. I have also realised that doing it this way enables me to provide an 2 extra circuits, one with moonlighting and one with white LED's for photography.
I have not done much other than the box build even though it has been sitting for ages so I really have nothing other than a couple of bulb test photos, before anyone asks.

I was worried about the exact problems you explained because I on the description on the floodlights it says 5000-6500 k but when buying them it never let's you choose the exact one that you want. If you look at the second link I posted im going to go with those par38 led bulbs they display the light 140° so twill be less spotlight effect and more consistent color and plenty of lumens. Im going to build a light ballast and use cannister housing about 16 inches above the tank

I bought ones on eBay by a seller named goldenpsxer I think. He's in CA and ships fast and shipping is free! I like them, they're 6500k and I got four 10 watts and two 20 watts for various tanks.
