Hi,

I'm wanting to use LED floodlights for my tank.

My tank is 9ft x 2.5ft x 2.5ft.

I will never be a planted guy, so plants don't matter. The most I would have would be anubias.

I just basically need to know what would light my tank? In terms of wattage.

I have several of these outside my house in the garden and up against the house; https://www.ledtechnologies.co.uk/mi-light/floodlights.html
- these are great as they are dimmable and can change colour (meaning I can change some to blue etc as I like the look white/blue gives).

Unfortunately the ones I have are all wired in now and properly installed, so I can't bring one in to test.

On average, what wattage and how many of these should I be looking at? Thanks.

If they are dimmable, I would go with the 50W version. I keep my tanks in a dark fishroom, so 2 x 25W floods are enough to light up my 6'x2'x2.5' frontosa tank. In contrast, if that same tank were in a bright room then I don't know if I would have enough light for decent viewing.

I like the RGB floods like this because it brings out more colors in the tank than only white and blue leds like a lot of the freshwater led fixtures. The dramatic effect of shadows is nice also.

This is a picture of my 6'x2'x2.5' tank with 25w RGB LED floods on it. I think they are dimmed down a couple steps as well.
