Hi guys. Has anyone used LED grow light panels for aquarium usage? Check on ebay to see what I'm looking at. Search for "225 WHITE LED AQUARIUM GROW LIGHT". They even say in their ad it's good for aquariums. Anyone have experience, concerns, or thoughts about this? Let me know!

I'm no expert, but you may want to look into the lumen and kelvin rating. If those lights put out a ton of heat, which they probably dont given they're for plants, but you dont want to heat up the tank too much, that is the K rating. And the lumen is the brightness. And idk cause I only took a quick glance and didnt see a rating for either, but say the lumen rating is less then 1000, you may find they are to dim for your aquarium. Just a fyi, a average light bulb in your home is around 1400-1600 lumen, so the lower it is, the more yellow i think it will look. Again... I'm not an expert. Hope that helps.

It says 5600K, lumens only says "improved" over their last design. As for the heat they're LEDs... which means I'd assume there's virtually no heat at all.

Actually, the LED fixtures put out relatively little heat, and the temp (K rating) is a reference to the color of the light. HTH. Lumen is a unit of measure relative to light output.

well they sound like they might put off some heat they're 5600k. as for lumens..... here's what i found:
Blue LED Lumen 5.55 Lux x 112 LEDs (621.5lux in total)
White LED Lumen 6.93 Lux x 113 LEDs (784lux in total)
thats what i found on the listing for the lights on ebay.

your welcome, but just so u know, i dont think they will be very bright. more a moonlight thing. but that may ave been what you were looking for anyway

From what I have read the blue should be no more than 30% of the lights. I did a fixture with 39 bulbs with 12 of them blue and it is a lot of blue. Have to tweak my set up.
