I'm in the process of ordering a 7 ft aquarium and I'd like to add LED lights. The problem I'm encountering is all of the options say they're made to fit over the edges of standard tanks up to 6 ft and I need lights I can place directly on the glass top (probably 2 three ft fixtures) unless somebody knows of a manufacturer that makes a fixture that fits larger tanks. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

There are plenty of fixtures that are light enough to sit on the glass (e.g. Current Orbits). However, the issue with doing this in a large tank is that LED's don't spread light very well. It's usually better to prop them up higher to fit a wide tank. My Orbit Pro is perfect for a 55g when sitting on the tank trim, but for a 75g it would need to be raised up

Thanks for the response. The tank will be 30 inches deep and 30 inches high so lighting a tank that deep and wide is also a concern. I'm not worried about the weight of the lights but the standard adjustable fittings all seem to made to fit over the lip of the tank and not directly on the glass. I'm not sure if removing the fittings and propping the lights on something else might be an option....

There are a few options, but some may be more costly. If you go with two fixtures for the length, the you could build something to accommodate the legs that will rest towards the center of the tank. Is hanging your fixture from the ceiling an option? I think there's more LED fixtures for Marine that could be positioned perpendicular to the length of the tank.

No, I can't hang anything from the ceiling.

You could buy fixtures that go front to back and place them strategically so you can still feed. I hung chandeliers over my 450 but I see that is not an option for you. Why do they need to be a full 7 feet?

Placing them front to back might be an option, I don't have any experience owning LEDs personally so I just wonder if that method would disperse the light properly. They don't have to cover the entire 7 ft. I was probably going to go with two 3 ft fixtures.
