Looked all over the web, and I was wondering if anyone is using LED's for their med-low light tank? I've looked on some websites but I have not really seen anything that interests me. Btw I am looking for a somewhat cheap setup, im fine with dyi.
Just looking for some insight...

Check out www.plantedtank.net

Lots of folks using DIY LED setups. I have a DIY fixture on my 190g, check out the link in my sig.

That's what I'm looking for, I am currently running a t5ho fixture and I am pleased with it, but i want something nicer, as the t5 fixture gets hot and it worries me being under my canopy. Main thing I am curious about is the intensity of LED's and what i would need to have an output equivalent to that of t5's.

With the right type of driver and controller, you can make the LEDs as bright or as dim as you like. I run mine at about 40% intensity. 100% is waaaaaay too bright for the tank. It lights up the entire half of my house :)
