Hi all!
I'm considering LED's for the tank. 30" deep X 24" wide and I'm not growing any plants. Sooo many choices...single bright, double bright, .6 watts up to at least an eyeball scorching 5 watts. I believe that single brights would be OK but thought maybe the double brights would be better. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

I guess it depends on what you are keeping in your tank... is it a planted tank / reef tank / fish only tank?

Depending on the type of tank will help people give you a better idea which would work for your needs?

I just converted all my tanks (all FW non planted) to LED... I've got two 20 watt flood lamps on my 225... Two 10 watt flood lamps on my 125... One 10 watt on my 90. I buy the cheap Chinese ones on eBay and wire them myself. :)

I would advise against the single brights because they do not have a lense over the leds. I use the double brights on my tank and am very happy with them.

Thanks for the replys. Shortly after asking the question, the computer modem quit working...finally got a new one. I've made my own lighting for a tank before but never thought of the spotlight idea. I used the under-cabinet LED's that can be linked in series from Menards...functional but not bright enough for my liking. They didn't make the fish "freak out" when turned on and I never had a problem with them. I will probably experiment with the spotlight to see how it will look and see how the fish react, but my instinct is saying to just buy something all ready made, plus it would have the moonlights built in all ready. I'm certainly leaning toward the double bright fixtures over the single brights now. BTW, freshwater non-planted.
