LED lighting + plants?

Simple question ... IF i made a DIY LED topping to my proposed 300+ tank (24 or 30 inch deep) using the little ones you wire yourself ... Can low light to medium light plants grow in these conditions?

Ideas on how to set this up if this is possible are very welcome IE products, wiring, etc .. links ...

Thanks I'll be doing a lot of searching around but I want to make sure I'm on the right path.

You will need a lot of LEDs. What kind and how many watts are you going to be using?

That's something I need help with. I'm such a noob, lol. I was thinking of setting them up as I've seen on the website. If I can't do plants, that is fine, but I definitely want to try if I can. Any ideas? I'm pretty much up for anything that isn't a ridiculous price.

Those LED lamps danger chicken is always talking about... They come up to 50 watts each I think? I know they come in 30 watts, and Jose did some PAR tests with the 10w and it was pretty impressive.
