Wanting to make or buy LED lighting for 2 if not 3 of my big tanks. I was hoping to find somebody that has made these before and is willing to make more and sell them. I can't seem to figure out how on the DIY threads to make these myself or where even to find parts. Before I go out and spend a ton on metal halides and t5's for my 180 reef I would much prefer to spend the money and have LED lighting. And if the cost is right I would love to go LED on my 500 fresh stingray tank and my 90 discus. I can find small LED panels on EBAY for a decent cost but not really the sizes I wanted. Any help here wold be great. Thanks guys in advance.

Can the LED light the tank nicely? I saw some led lights in some of the fish shop. But it was not impressive like the T5 & metal hillide.
I am using metal hillide as well in my tank to illuminate the rays

Im using LED lights on my tank.

Not DIY though.

Im using the marine land double bright lights. Love them.

Might want to look into them.

Interesting, are they pricey? I'm looking more for heat reduction and possibly
some help on my electric bill. If the LED's are nice and bright and don't cost too much I may invest in some this year.

The largest version they sell draws 24 watts of power. It is 36" long, but extends out to 60". I would say it is just as bright as two 48" fluorescent bulbs.

They give off little to no heat...

They also have built in blue moon lights, which is a nice feature.

This model has 16 white LEDs rated at 6000k each (nice color) and use 1 watt of power each..

It also has 8 Blue LEDs rated at 420nm... moon light.

Cost varies for this model depending on where you get it... $150-300 each is what i have seen so far. That is the cost of the biggest model, the one mentioned above... called 36-48".... but it is really only 36" long.

I just bought two 12 ft blue LED rope lights for $7 each on a Xmas sale. 9watts indoor outdoor non-mercury. Took my canopys of of both of my 125g tanks and secured them with cable ties and t25 staples in a rectangular shape. It is sicker than any bullpoop LED from my lfs's. Of course no mist is hitting them but I'm sure it's humid. They are on timers and look rad at night. Terrific full tank front and back moon light!

The ecoexotic fixtures are the best bang for the buck I have seen. i have the 36-48" doublebright and its nice....But I borrowed a single Ecoexotic Panorama Module and it rocks! They cost 100 each and two or three would do my entire 150 extra tall. I am going to add one as soon as i am up and running....maybe two!
